Monday Costume Gem

I stumbled on this talented seamstress yesterday by following some links of links (amazing what you can find doing that!).

Connie Lowe is in PA and designs and constructs the most delightful garments for bjds. Her business is called Marbled Halls and I love that she uses authentic vintage/antique fabrics in her designs and also in some of them, gives them a contemporary twist by adding some modern textiles.

Love the modern fabric overskirt with the antique lace and the striped stockings!

Please check out her site for more of her wonderful designs.

There are so many other artisans out there that when I look at their costuming, I immediately want to lock myself into my studio and rummage through my stash of laces and textiles. Off the top of my head I can think of at least six artists that inspire me with their costumes, but I am going to leave these for another post.

Do you feel creative?

These are nothing shy of exquisite ... and that Marie doll at the top - wow!!!.

I can't believe what blogging has done to me. LOL I never had any interest in dolls, beyond a passing respect for any beautifully crafted item. But I have found so many amazing - and some quite bizarre (to me, anyway!) - dolls and their artists/creators, that I'm starting to think about collecting a few.

just what I need with the economy on the skids - a new obsession to spend money on.

I loved seeing this pics - and I"m on my way to her site - but I'm not sure if I should thank you or not!

Ho wonderful Sue! Thank you for sharing this! Now oddly I had an idea awhile ago to do a ship hat ala' Marie Antoinette style for one of my dolls but.. I get lots of ideas that never materlize... so it was fun to see the one here! I love all the clothes and now am rushing over to see her blog and more eye candy!

That's quite a doll. I remember reading that women who had TB looked similarly, and were considered ethereally beautiful.

Hehee, Sue, you are leading us into evil!! :) I cannot afford anything and yet there is sooo much temptation all around!! :)

I am in awe--I am not a seamstress so I am constantly amazed when I see someone working magic with cloth!

I love the costuming, but I still like your dollfaces more. These all seem so down! Cheer up, pretties! You have awesome clothes!

Also, someday, I will own a ship-hat.

How beautiful! Costuming always amazes me. I love BJD's. I bought a book on BJD's last year. It is written all in japanese though. I have not had time to learn how to read japanese :-) -- however, it is a good thing it has lots of step by step pictures. There was a time I insanely wanted to try to make a BJD. *sigh* .... one day ....

These dolls are amazing!! From what I see, they are the ball jointed dolls...LOVE those!

Just want to clarify something - this is not my work. The costuming on these bjds is done by Connie Lowe of Marbled Halls (please click the links above to check her out.). I don't know if Connie makes the BJDs or just does the costuming for them.
