Canada Eh?

A friend sent me this short little feature presented by Tom Brokaw. I thought it was really well done. Growing up in Ontario, we learned more US history and geography in school than we did Canadian it seemed, and there were some facts in this that I wasn't even aware of

My mom was born in the US and we used to travel Stateside every year for our holidays. My sis and I quickly learned that the US curriculum had very little about Canada just by the questions that were asked almost as soon as we crossed the border. So if anyone is interested in finding out a bit about Canada and its relationship to the US, check out the vid above (it is approx. 6 minutes).

And, here in Ontario, I hardly ever hear anyone say, "Eh" LOL

Thanks for sharing, I know so little about Canada, glad to see the Olympics in Canada, we all got a fabulous history lesson at the opening ceremony, use to canoe in the Canadian Wilderness as a kid, it was very beautiful

Excellent little lesson!

It's true - we learn NOTHING about Canada in public school here.

Oh, I need to go write some more of the story, but I'll come back later and watch...The only thing I think of when Canada is mentioned anywhere is that it's cold in the winter and beautifully green in the summer...
Oh, and it's where my brother freeloaded for awhile...ya, another story someday (O:

see ya yesterday...

Great lesson!

To be fair --*ahem*--there is so little of any sort of history (maybe Europe, but do we know anything about African history? Middle Eastern?Asian?)taught in American schools other than...American history.

Ok, I'll put my soapbox away now :)

What a wonderful video! I love Canada!

It's a shame we in the States don't learn more about our northern neighbor in schools and on the news. Thanks for posting this!
Hugs,
Angela

shoot the video no longer works.

Americans are so ethnocentric, its a shame we have so much to learn from our northern neighbors. I lived in Windsor Ontario for a few years and the people were so nice. I have to admit though Sue they did say eh?
