I finally listed a couple of items in my Etsy shop this week. It was bad enough that I hardly did any creating at all last year, but when I finally did get back to it, I hesitated offering the pieces for sale. Not sure why, but I had this fear that I had
1. forgotten how to sculpt
2. forgotten how to 'use' Etsy
3. the pieces were stale
4. I hate taking pictures
(because I really need some photo tips!)
I was much more positive feeling about the gift items I was working on.
Anyway, I thought "enough!" and put two Kindreds and one full body sculpt art doll up this week. Like riding a bike, it wasn't that scary or difficult once I actually got my butt on the seat.
Zara, a Ghost Kindred
A Place In Time
Sophia Isabella - A Kindred
I'm thrilled to say that Sophia Isabella is traveling Stateside to live with Pearl. Thank you so much Pearl - your purchase of this piece gave the boost to my confidence that I desperately needed!
I had planned on starting a couple pieces for Valentine's Day today, but got sidetracked cleaning my work table and sorting through some trims. It doesn't take much to throw me off course LOL. Tomorrow for sure I'm getting back to work!!

Great title! You are too cute with saying you forgot how to use etsy, lol. And I like your photos. Your work is amazing, sweetie! Congrats on the fabulous sale! Sending you creative vibes! Hugs, Lisa :)
Okay.... you're lucky I don't live near by for two reasons... First, because I would shake you to death for ever thinking that you had forgotten to sculpt or that your work was stale. Second... because I would have snatched each one of these beautiful dolls and ran. :) So glad you're back on the wagon, my friend!
Sue, I'm with Moriah! Are you kidding?!?! I would LOVE to KNOW how you make your dolls! They are exquisite and I don't know how you do it with clay! If I had more funds, you'd be out of dolls!!
But I get it, sometimes I second guess what I am doing. Please don't give up on your dolls..I'm sure if you need help with anything tons of people would help you! I would :)
Hugs ~ Zan
Hey Sue, nah, you haven't forgotten a thing.... your dolls are amazing! Linda
So glad to see you back! It's so hard to get back into sculpting once you go away for a while. But that talent was just waiting for you to use it again :o) Never think your art is less than amazing!
Amazingly talented people never forget...
Everytime I see one of your new creations, I see a little of my daughter in her. Someday you'll nail it again and I'll grab her up!
NEVER stop creating Sue, you're so gifted. And keep blogging:)
It is crazy how our own mind can play tricks on us... but never you mind... you fooled it! Your work, dolls, sculpting and descriptions are fabulous, really truly brilliant!
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to Come!

Every time I don't do a doll or bear for any amount of time..I too wonder if I will be able to do one again. how weird is that? We're all a strange bunch, we are ....
These are lovely....I always admire your beautiful faces.... faces are my fav part of anything I make...
Wow, your dolls are always so beautiful!! I can't wait to see what you create next..it's obvious you didn't forget anything! :o)
I'm so happy right now for you Sue, you second guess your self to much. Creating is who you are! You have such a gift. I understand why you don't want to sell them Ive done that but then there they sat collecting dust with me. So I put them in my store and sold many. Which made me feel so good because I got to hear people go on and on about them. They were happy which made me real happy. I'm talking tags and journals compared to your work :) And you keep talking about pictures? yours look just fine, I can see the detail and they look great. You keep creating Sue so your work can be enjoyed for many years to come. My Grandaughter cannot wait to see Sophia, and I will share her with many people!! And when ever I look at her I will think of you, the great artist Sue Patricia Barton! No more fears k? Hugs, Pearl

These pieces are beautiful Sue and I agree with everyone who says you're crazy for doubting your talent. We all get into these creative ruts and I completely undersatnd how you feel. Hopefully 2012 will be the year to get it together, lol.
Congrats on your sale, a good start:)

read your Comment on 'Just Call Me Jake' and thought I'd take a look at your blog.
OMG, I love creating art dolls even if I haven't done so in ages.
I love your gals, they're wonderful.
Now I'm going to take a much closer look at each of them.
So happy to have seen your Comment.
Sue- I love, love, love 'A place in time'- so breathtaking! Amazing to me that anyone with such talent would have any hesitation at all! Go for it with gusto, gal!
Hi Sue!!
Thank you so much for your visit. I know how you feel, sometimes I get so caught up with life that I feel like I can't stir up the mojo to create again.
But just like riding a bike, it comes back to us.
Your work is wonderful and I'm so happy that you
are back and revving to go!!
Happy 2012 and let's challenge ourselves to send more art out into the world this year!!
Big hugs,
Rosanna
Thanks for visiting my blog, been catching up on some of your posts and you're cracking me up...keep truckin on that new studio of yours! I just love Zara and Sophia, they have such sweet little faces, you most certainly have not forgotten how to sculpt :)
Check out this link for what I think is the best doll photography book ever. It's sort of geared toward collectors of vinyl dolls but totally applicable to artdolls as well, lots of fun inspirational stuff in addition to the instructional stuff too.
