Fluffy and Crisp

Fluffy as in the first snow that hit parts of Ontario overnight and early this morning...

Cheryl McIssac, Barrie, ON Oct. 22, 2010, Weather Network

No snow here, in my little corner yet - just crisp, cool, beautiful Fall weather.

Skip Pothier, Port Perry, ON.  The Weather Network

There is so much about Autumn that I love.  The air is so fresh (none of that horrid summer humidity), cool and crisp.  The turning colours of the leaves is stunning and the heady, unique scent of fallen leaves always makes me smile.

How many of you remember scenes like this, from when you were younger?  When we moved to this small town over 20 years ago, people were still allowed to burn their leaves.  Sadly for us, (but better for the air quality), we are no longer permitted.

Speaking of crisp ....can anything beat the taste of an early Fall apple?  Not only super yummy, but so healthy for you!

Apples are a perfect snack - portable, handy and delicious.

And apples are readily available (no need to resort to 'stealing' one - this is NOT what is meant by picking apples)

Delight in the fun of going to an orchard and picking your own.

No orchard close by? An open air farmer's market is the next best thing.

And failing that,  you just know at this time of year there will be a huge selection at your local grocer's.

Whatever you have planned for this weekend, enjoy the weather and also an apple (or two).

If you are jonesing for
"fluffy", have a marshmallow!  I like winter and find the first snow fall very enchanting, but it is still just a bit too early!

Under The Wire

(this is not my dark angel, but a little fae that I did several years ago)

As per usual, I am just under the wire for completing my angel piece for the ADO Monthly Challenge. I set a goal to try and do every challenge this year and got off to a rocky start by missing the January one! This challenge, as can be seen is angels

I decided to do a dark angel. This piece is one of my Kindreds, so I did not want her to be too dark, but I didn't want her all light and fluff either. She is shown below as a WIP, with her gown (antique beaded netting), and the very rough templates I made for her wings.

Below, she is getting her hair "done". Messy, messy job.

Done! I am going to have to figure out what my hubby did to the settings in my camera when he borrowed it, as I am not happy at all with how my pics are turning out.

I truly believe we all have angels in our lives. Just as we are so unique, angels must be too - perhaps not all have earned their white wings yet...just like this little gal

Now I have to find my manual for my camera and retake some pics so I can list her in my Etsy shop

By the way - did I vaguely hear the word "Spring" mentioned recently? Last weekend, (no snow, sunny) I would have believed it. Today? Not so much

Snow-Mag-gedon

That is what one of the weathermen were calling this
first snow storm of three that we are going to get
in the next few days. This is the same system that
is hitting the north east US

This pic was taken around 3:30pm. It started snowing
here around 9:00am and it is still snowing. The next
storm is due Sunday, and then after that another
one on Christmas Eve day.

Pretty, no? At least if you aren't out on the roads!

Winter Berries

It is rainy and 48F today and most of our snow has disappeared (more in the forecast though ...yaaaay!! White Christmas!).

I took this pic a couple of weeks ago when we had our first snow
fall and love the way the berries are so vibrantly red still and
the snow is like sugar frosting. Magical
