Was just getting some lunch and looked out my kitchen window to see that I had unexpected company. At the far end of our pool (which still has the snowmelt and rain on the winter blanket), Mr. and Mrs. Mallard were checking out the neighbourhood.
They swam around for about 20 minutes then decided that they didn't like my hospitality and left for better accomodations. Check out below how well Mrs. Mallard's dowdiness camoflages her. We had rain and very high winds yesterday and I can see we have quite abit of clean up back there too.
As I was standing on the back deck to take these pics, I noticed that the buds were starting to come out on one of our lilac trees. I LOVE the smell of lilacs on a warm May evening. Pretty soon this:

I love the pictures! Yes, mama duck really blends in! And I love lilacs, also :)

It's finally getting warmer here and I just noticed our apple tree has blooms... I think it happened over night!
I love baby goslings
wow! what wonderful visitors you had & that lilac tree ... oh my ... that must smell like heaven when it blooms!
OH my lilacs are my favorite too! how beautiful!
I think lilacs may be my favourite flower.
The female duck was a shock because I totally didn't even see her.

What an amazing sight to see in your pool!! I just love when all the animals and birds start to come back:) The other day I saw a mother racoon and her baby in the way to the store and on the way home 4 deer:) 2 adults and 2 baby:) The only bad thing is alot of them are dead on the side of the highway:(
I wish they would fence all the wooded area beside the highway:(
It won't be much longer now!!!
