A Hanging and Some Bones

I LOVE getting cool stuff in the mail! (and you thought this would be a post about something gruesome right?). I went to pick up the mail today and there waiting for me were two parcels. The larger package turned out to be a beautiful wall hanging/pocket created by the very clever and artistic Tristan Robin Blakeman. Every Friday, Tristan has "Flea Market Friday" on his blog. Last Friday I was early to his blog and snatched up this gorgeous piece for a specific spot in my house. I strongly advise you to start following Tristan's blog for all the "Enchanted Revelry" that he posts. You will be so glad you did. Also, check out his etsy shop for wonderful fabric and paper creations.

Okay, that is the 'hanging' part.

A number of years ago, I enjoyed sculpting shaman and goddess pieces. My inspiration was the late great artist, Susan Seddon Boulet. I would quite often incorporate bones and other natural found items in my pieces. Unfortunately, my 'bone supplier' passed away and I gradually went on to different fantasy work. I've been thinking I would like to do some similar pieces to my old shaman ones and was delighted to find a seller, Bonesinger on Etsy that has marvelous little skulls, bones and other cool items. Kim is also an artist with another etsy shop, My Grandmother's Hands that I profiled in a post about a month ago.

Here are the bones I just got (a rodent head - muskrat maybe, two rodent jaw pieces, and some little mice jaw pieces). I'm thinking you could also make some fabulous jewelry with these. hmmmmmmmmm

I wonder what Monday's mail will bring!

LOL Baroness! As for the bones, not sure when I can get to them. I have
several orders for kindreds that I'm completing and also want to get more in my shop.

Aww, Sue, I was LOOKING forward to a hanging and bones! :P

At least the bones part is A Happenin'! This reminds me of some headdresses we used to make with crow skulls in them, for theater I used to do (ooh, that's another crazy story for another day!) It's hard to find materials from the natural world--so interesting shop.

The tapestry is lovely!
