Sunday Gems

Inspiration can come to me in so many guises. I have blogged before about my love of French female songbirds and wanting to add to my I-tunes library, I was browsing on youtube and came across Emilie Simon. I find some music and videos very inspiring. The music if it appeals to me can be the push I need to get creating on an otherwise lacklustre creation day. Some videos by their own brilliant creativity can spark all sorts of ideas for new figures. Such is the case with "Desert" by Emilie Simon, above.

After discovering the Desert video, I came across "Flowers", also by Emilie Simon. Creepy cute, with a gothic, Tim Burton like charm, this video also planted some kernels for new pieces.

Does music spark a creative yearning in you, even if you are like me and can't carry a note?

I just discovered her this last year. :]
Love her songs/videos.

Jess, the thing I like about a lot of her French songs in video is that the story can be understood in any language (like the Desert one above).

I'm really excited to start on my metamorphis/rebirth doll piece (based on the Desert video). I have four other pieces to finish and hope to get going on this by the end of the week. I even have the chair for it!

Pattee, I find a lot of these vids on youtube, however I use a weird assortment of search terms - it depends what I'm looking for.

oooh! I loved them BOTH! Thank you sooo much far sharing them. MUST HAVE MORE. :)

... and yes, music often sparks the creative yearning in me (and I, too, can't carry a note ... ask my daughter!).

Wow! What beautiful videos! Music is so important...so many creative people in all sorts of disciplines makes the world a pretty interesting place in which to live!

These were great! You find some neat stuff out there! Normally I do not work to music. If I do put on music, strangely, I can't work when listening to music that has lyrics. When I do feel like music, I find that the only type of music that helps my creativity is classical.

Hello Sue !
Videos are great and it's a shame that the words in French of "Desert" are not the same that in English version.
I can't wait to see your new creation.
A bientôt,
Amélie

Absolutely have to have music in my life...!! I love a wide range of genre....back in my hippie days (maybe I'm still living my hippie days?)I briefly owned a record store...gave away more than I sold...And just the other day I discovered the Pandora Music Genome radio station online...If you're a music lover check it out..you can create your own radio station and it will play only tunes you like...It's fabulous!

Have I mentioned I love your new look...? And you changed templates without losing any stuff...?

Sue said...

Julie, thank you. Changing the background was really easy. I went to www.thecutestblogontheblock.com, picked out the background I wanted and copied and pasted the code where they said to. Voila! within seconds I had a new look!
