Hello May!!

May 1st...May Day

The celebration of this day goes back to pagan times and it is still observed in many countries today.

What are you doing this May Day?

Perhaps donning your Spring finery ....

and hosting or attending a small barbeque get-together?

Maybe you will pick a young gal to be May Queen (just for the day though!)

What is May Day without a maypole? (and what better way to work off the calories from that 'barbeque'?)

Here is a cute little vid of a group of Grade one children in Ireland in 1929 celebrating May Day with their Maypole dance....

and lastly, one of my all-time favorite songs to welcome in May...

Wishing everyone has a great May 1st and if you want to learn more about the history behind this day, just punch "May Day" into Google.

Hi Sue! Magical post! Love the vintage photos you shared, especially the BBQ with fancy hats and dresses. I think that would be too much for todays BBQ though. lol. Happy May Day! Creative Blessings to you! :)
